One of the great causes that Dasbait has supported since its inception is the charity Zidni Ilma based in Baroda, Gujarat, India. A cause focused on supporting young adults who have the potential to pursue a career in fields such as medicine and engineering but do not have the economic means. Zidni Ilma led by Dr Juzar Bandukwala annually funds the university education of over 2000 students.
Another cause that Dasbait supports is the 'resit matriculation programme' which facilitates 250 students annually in preparing to retake their matric exam (the equivalent of GCSE). 50% of the poor fail to obtain the basic qualification and a majority of these are slum dwellers. If they engage with the programme it will give them a second chance to increase their potential for earning which is currently Rs. 100-200 per day (the equivalent of £1-2). Matric will give them the ability to take up skilled jobs; tuk-tuk drivers or pursue a course in a/c engineering, plumbing which will provide them with increased salary and a route out of extreme poverty.
Dasbait has supported since 2016 the Baroda Muslim Doctor Association running fortnightly medical camps offering basic medical checks and treatment to the habitants of the slums.
Medical teams assess the nutritional status of all the children who attend, providing dietary counselling and nutritional supplements where needed.

The Trustees visited the camps in 2018 and were interviewed by a local news media reporting the work that is being carried out by the medical team (link provided below). The trustees took the opportunity to publicise the good work being carried out by the medical team and that they were pleased that Dasbait’s contribution has been used to support the Doctors, nurses and admin staff volunteering to deliver this much-needed service within deprived areas.

In 2023 Dasbait contributed £11,500 towards the provision of food packs. In January 2023 food packs were distributed in a poor locality in Baroda, India. The distribution stretched across 500 families.
In March 2023, 336 food packs were distributed to families in the village of Bodhan, Gujarat.
Each pack contains rice, wheat, pulses, sugar and oil. One pack can cost between £12 to £16 and will provide the basic food supply for a family of 4 for one month.
In 2018, we created the "Hussein Shiraz Scholarship" at a local primary school in Bodhan, Surat, and every year Dasbait continues to fund the school.
The funds from this scholarship go towards admission fees, books and uniforms for students from underprivileged families.
